Use this one word to win ANY argument with a repub
You know people who live in fantasy-land with Bush and Cheney. They're like cult members. You CANNOT convince them to come to our side with simple facts. They are beyond reason.

Here's how you win: CANCEL THEIR VOTE. Beat them with ACTION, not words. And no, not just with your vote, cause you probably know more than one who is a member of the bush cult.

Go to John Kerry.com and volunteer. They need people to make phone calls and they have a great and easy system. You make five phone calls to volunteers in swing states, and one of them will actually volunteer, that person will meet twenty people, and of the twenty at least one WILL vote for Kerry. Five phone calls, one vote for Kerry.

If you live in a swing state, even better! Walk a precinct! Just contact your local JK office. It's easy and fun and you will meet people who will be delighted to talk to you.

Don't waste your time arguing with cult members, INSTEAD, keep a running count in your head, and make 5 phone calls/house visits for each nutjob you know.

The word here is ACTION: you're going to take it, they're going to keep on living in fantasy land. That's how we beat them.

3. everything is relative . . . e.g., during the EarlWarren Court, some folks

tagged it as "liberal." And when Warren Burger was C.J. then the Court drifted a bit to the right. Associate Justice John Paul Stevens who is now considered "liberal" by many was considered "moderate" until Scalia and Thomas were appointed.

The Rehnquist Court, is not "very conservative," as you suggest. Instead, it vacillates between conservative to moderate, and at times rings moments of moderate to liberal. The latter is rare, however.

It is projected that Justice Stevens will retire. O'Connor may retire. Ginsburg is recovering from cancer. If any of these 3 seats become vacant, then George Walker Bush will nominate someone similar to, or worse than, Associate Justice Antonin Scalia.

If that happens, more than 70 to 100 years of good, solid, well-reasoned case law will be tossed. Yes, over-turned. That will be a "very conservative" Court.

edited to add: history has proven that the party of the president may not be relevant to the dominant legal theory of the justices that are seated on the bench. Chief Justice Earl Warren is an excellent example of that, as is Justice Souter. However, GWBush has stated that he wants "another Scalia" and "judges who believe in God" made law on the bench and as determinative factors to be nominated by him.

This is an email that I sent to a few friends more than a year ago. It was posted on someone's (not my) website. It's regarding this issue that you raised: www.newsgarden.org/columns/TaleWgnDgcolumns.shtml
