Another thread in GD on Alabama, if you are interested!
No way I could ever - nor would I want to - try to copy every Alabama-bashing thread in other forums here. But every now and then I am moved to see if we all can't try to enlighten others on the diversity of our state. Alabama is FAR from perfect, but we're not all sleeping with our cousins (or, as one poster in this thread jokes, our SIBLINGS - yuck!).

Jump in if you want. I tried to take the high road on this one.

1. My dear, no one 'bashing' Alabama....The Supreme Court wouldn't
even bother taking the state's rights issue. It's just a testament to the sanity of your state's Democrats, who obviously didn't go along with the Republican sponsored law to restrict certain products (shall we say).

The high road ? A bonanza for Alabama agriculture ! The 'laughing stock' in this case is our national Supreme Court.

2. ok, ok...
Edited on Sun Mar-06-05 06:42 PM by southlandshari
my reference to "organic products" leaned more towards an "R" rating than "PG-13", I guess. Does that knock me off the high road, morally?

I agree that the article itself doesn't bash Alabama, but the comments from the original poster and several others (in a relatively short thread) on how unthinkable it would be to live in this state (or a number of our neighboring states) do indeed convey a negative and stereotypical view of the region that is the norm on DU.

I meant it when I said come on down and see us - you might be surprised!

3. Kenny Stabler from down yer way is still remembered fondly in our neck of
the woods. As Raider fans and being near the old Raider's training camp, we have a soft spot in our hearts for that ole 'Bama boy. Him and Montana with the 'niners ... did we luck out or what ? Joe of PA however.

6. he's not?
I didn't realize that. He certainly should be. Man, I loved to watch the Raiders when I was a kid. He was great.

5. I was going to weigh in
but the topic has been archived.

I have hit the alert button on similar threads and posts. The admins now seem to be vigilant in stomping on such BS.
