but he's okay.

That's him getting his hand wrapped up in the second picture.

5. Thanks, he was really lucky
Not even a broken bone. There are some metal fragments that will have to be removed, but hopefully after that he'll be able to get full use of it back.

Shot by a capital murderer and lived to tell about it. Thank God. Wow, what a horrifying adventure.

Glad everything's okay!

4. Glad he's okay
Law enforcement and flying have the same characteristic:

hours and hours of boredome sprinkled with moments of shear terror!

9. Thank you
You understand the dread of getting "that call".

Fortunately, James called my other brother himself, so we knew he was okay.

7. So true
Frankly, I wish he could retire, but he's not old enough.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind thoughts.

12. LizW! OMG!
We watched all of this unfold last night on WSFA. I'm so glad he's ok; they kept talking about how well known your brother was among cops and the community in the area.

Sending thoughts and prayers your family's way!

Shari

16. They talked about him on the news?
That's nice to know, I'll have to tell my mom. Up here in Birmingham, they just gave his name and rank and said he was recovering.

Mom got phone calls from all over from people who know James.

Thank you for your kind words and thoughts. It was scary, but thank goodness he's fine. It could have been so much worse.

18. WSFA talked about him in some detail
As you can see from other posts, other DUer's saw it too. They talked about how he actually got involved in the chase and what happened to him. Also said that he was "one of the most well known officers in his area" which I believe was Autaugaville or Prattville, right?

Sending good wishes your family's way...
Shari
