Get On The PEACE TRAIN Alabama!!
Louisiana Activist Network is organizing a PEACE TRAIN from New Orleans to Washington,DC, picking up activist groups across the South on our way to represent the solid antiwar majority on the government's streets on September 24, 2005. We can fill a train if we lash things together properly. Southerners who wish to get in on this gig should start talking to us here --> http://www.newdemocracyrising.com/messageboard.asp

This could be an incredible life experience. Please get a group together and join us. One way tickets are just over $100.
Here's a link to the Amtrak schedule ---> http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Amtrak/Page/Schedules_Index_Page&c=Page&cid=1080072922206&ssid=3

1. I like the idea but Amtrak is notoriously late by many hours. In June 04
I went from Birmingham to DC and returned a week later. Amtrak was six hours late departing and twelve hours late returning. I wouldn't plan on reaching DC at the scheduled 9:50 AM arrival time and don't be surprised if you don't get there until late in the evening.

2. Good Point!
We are now discussing moving the trip back a day. However this will require an extra night of hotel rooms which will increase the cost for everyone.

Several people have made the trip with no delays but you are not the first to bring up this point.

Thanks

3. *ALERT* Peace Train Moved up a day
*THE DEPARTURE DATE HAS BEEN MOVED UP DUE TO CONCERN ABOUT AMTRAK'S CHRONIC DELAYS. WE WILL NOW BE LEAVING NEW ORLEANS ON THURSDAY INSTEAD OF FRIDAY*

Same route and same times...just moved up one day.

I know a group from Tuscaloosa is interested. We hope to see more of y'all on the train!

4. Sounds like a great plan. We have enough time to plan some get-togethers
before catching the train. We are in southern Alabama. Anyone interested in some pre-planning?

5. Great!! Please keep us posted.
Whenever you get your initial numbers together let us know at www.newdemocracyrising.com/messageboard.asp

We have some time but it's still very important that Peace Train riders reserve their tickets as soon as they can so please pass that along. I believe we have around 15 who are already confirmed and it's growing everyday.

Our Goal: FILL UP THAT TRAIN WITH ACTIVISTS!
