06 Gubernatorial race

Who all has registered to run for Governor? I know Riley and Baxley have. Have Moore and Siegleman filed their papers yet? Who all is running for Lt. Governor? I'm very curious.

1. I think it's only Baxley so far

As far as I know, Riley still hasn't said if he's going to run this time. Nor have Moore or Siegleman. But if I were going to bet, I'd say it would be Baxley versus Siegleman for the Democratic nomination, and Riley and Moore in the Republican primary. In which case, I'd skip the Dem primary and vote for Riley in the GOP race.

I hope Siegleman bows out. He's ethically and politically damaged goods, and I think Baxley would have a better shot at taking the mansion. Plus, it would be cool for Alabama to have a woman governor for a change.

Moore runs.

It was my understanding that Seigleman is running though, which will completley piss me off especially if Moore runs. I feel obligated to vote against that idiot in the primary. My fear is a lot of us will feel like that and Lucy will end up losing to Seigleman, who like you said is politically damaged goods.

I heard it the other day on TV. They were talking about how many white people (R and D) would vote in the GOP Primary because of the Riley/Moore race. They went on to say that the fewer white votes in the Dem primary, the better the chances for Siegelman. I had never thought of that, but now that I do, I would bet that Siegelman would connect with the black community better than Lucy.

Meanwhile, I'll be voting for the first time. :D

How to vote!? You know, when I talk to my rep in-laws even they prefer Lucy to everyone else. I'm just afraid to leave it up to them, ya know? No matter what, I'm voting against Moore lol. Guess we'll just have to see how the primaries play out.

Moore isn't as bad as he is played up to be IMO. He isn't a "corporate Republican" if you know what I mean.

He is a theocrat, a super-Fob James. He would be much, much worse than Riley ever thought about being. Remember, Riley promoted a very progressive tax-reform plan.

Moore would very likely call out the Guard to put the Ten Commandments in every courthouse in the state, and maybe to shut down every abortion clinic here too. It could get very, very ugly real quick.

Like I say, unlike Bush (I think Bush knows he's evil), Moore has true intentions. Unfortunately, his intentions are right out of the seventeenth century, or present-day Saudi Arabia.

You're right about Moore not being a corporate Republican. And that's a damn good thing as far as am concerned. I hate corporate Republicans.

But look at it this way. Can you imagine any high-paying blue collar jobs like Mercedes, JVC, Honda, or Hyundai, coming into Alabama under a Roy Moore administration?

I can't.

If Moore becomes governor, you can kiss Alabama's economy goodbye. All the progress we've made as a state in the last twenty years will vanish overnight. We'll be back to cotton and soybeans (manufactured by 'agribusiness').

That's the way I see it anyway.

17. Wouldn't it be ironic if Alabama's Republican elite

had to depend on crossover Democratic votes to stop the rabble they have cultivated all these years (i.e. the Christian Coalition) from electing Roy Moore?

In a way, the business community in Alabama deserves to have Gov. Roy Moore. Dr. Frankenstein should be confronted with the consequences of his handiwork.

Let the Republicans nominate their ayatollah. Moore would have a harder time beating Lucy than Riley would.

I will skip the GOP primary myself and vote to elect Lucy.

But I'm worried that Moore would make the fundies REALLY turn out... make them come out of the woodwork. Then again, maybe they all vote anyway.

If Moore and Riley run in the Republican primary, I will have to hold my nose and vote for Riley. But I will definitely vote for Lucy (or Don) in the general.

on one fact alone. Lucy actually stated on radio program that she did not know that there is a illegal alien problem in the state. Don was a great Gov b4 and would be again.
