Swanson announces plans to run for governor as Democrat

Johnny Swanson, who sued the Democratic Party after being disqualified in his attempt to run for U.S. Senate last year, has announced plans to run for the Democratic nomination for governor.
Swanson, who used to operate a security business in Birmingham, said in a release Monday that he has a plan to balance the state's budgets in a way that will "fairly" fund state services including education, services for senior citizens, public safety, transportation and economic growth.
