I posted this letter to the editor in the Montgomery Advertiser in GD Politics and it got zero replies. I suppose if it made Alabama look stupid it would have made it to the Greatest page.

Frank Hardy tell us, "A couple of months ago, (former Judge Roy) Moore spoke to some 500 Baptist ministers in Nashville. He was given a 10-minute standing ovation." So what's the point?
As an adult, I was a member of Baptist churches for more than 40 years. All were affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. The SBC has lost most of its credibility as a Christian organization because of activities such as the speech noted by Hardy.
The SBC has welcomed to its inner circle all sorts of questionable individuals. In addition to Moore, it also gets "guidance" from Ollie North, Richard Land and Jerry Falwell. If Saddam Hussein were to speak to the ruling council in Iran and get a 10-minue standing ovation, who would have their reputation tarnished, Saddam or Iran?
The SBC is now an arm of the Republican Party. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., told us in 2000 that Jerry Falwell and others are an evil influence on the GOP. I suppose the question would be, who is corrupting whom?
