Did Governor Riley Plagiarize President Clinton?
Two lines in Gov. Bob Riley's State of the State speech are remarkably similar to lines used by President Clinton in important speeches, but Riley's spokesman said it's purely coincidence.

In Riley's speech to the Legislature Tuesday night, he said, "Tonight we have the most dynamic, the most competitive job-creating economy in the history of this state."

Clinton, in his 1999 State of the Union speech, said, "Today America is the most dynamic, competitive, job-creating economy in history," according to a transcript of the speech.

The State of the State speech by the Republican governor also included the lines: "Alabama's success was not a matter of chance. It was a matter of choice."

A transcript of Clinton's speech to the 2000 Democratic National Convention contains the lines: "America's success was not a matter of chance. It was a matter of choice."

1. Hmmmm,
that's almost exactly word for word. That's an amazing coincidence.

But who cares?

I wonder who picked up on that?

2. regarding my previous post...
I didn't mean "who cares" as in the actual article. I think the story is great! Somebody is stealing from Bill Clinton! Ha!

I don't think it matters. I'm still voting for Bob Riley, even if I have to register as a republican. I'm willing to do that to prevent roy moore from turning us into Talibama.

I do respect people of faith, including Bob Riley. I think he is sincere about his faith. Roy Moore just screams opportunist to me.

4. Plagarism is sometimes a mere slip....however,
As an old-fashioned New Deal TVA pro-labor Fifth District yellow dogger, I will have to say that Riley has surprisingly dealt well with the state's plethora of political potholes... Does anyone see any real difference between him and the DNC? I don't. Artur is Alabama's hope. He and Harold, Jr. will make a helluva a tagteam, the likes of which haven't been seen since the glory days of Bearcat Brown and Len Rossi! (For those of you who were fans of Midsouth Championship Rasslin' out of Memphis when I was a kid in the early 70s).
