I give up.
With the possible exception of Lucy being elected Guv,
our State is destined to be perpetually red.

The Party isn't running any candidates in any of the
Congressional districts now held by Pukes-I think mostly
of AL-4, held by Aderhold(my District). www.aladems.org is
of no help whatsoever. What a bunch of fucking pussies(please
pardon my unPCness).

Until we raise hell and show our fellow Alabamians that we're
the spiritual decendants of FDR(our grandparents and ggparents
fucking SURVIVED because of his New Deal programs), we're doomed
to fail.

The Dems lost the South because of rascism. When LBJ signed the
Civil Rights Act into law, the Pukes-with Nixon leading the charge-
dived headlong into their so-called Southern Strategy(sp). LBJ admitted
that with the enacting of CVA, the Dems would lose the South for a
generation. Little did he know it'd be much more time than that.

So, I give up trying to overcome the rascism, the ignorance, the (dare
I say it) STUPIDITY of most of our fellow Alabamians. I'll leave that to
the younger folks more educated than I.

As Harry Truman said, "I don't give the Republicans hell, I give 'em the
truth-and they think it's hell".

Give 'em the truth, my young friends.

1. hey liberaltrucker!
I've been keeping my eyes open for the big red truck with the DU sticker. I haven't spotted it yet, but I'm bound to sooner or later.

I think we have candidates in four of the five Republican districts.

Vivian Beckerle

Chuck Dean

Barbara Bobo

Perhaps the most winnable: Greg Pierce

And in the two Democratic districts, there are no Republican challengers!

The glass is a third full, not two-thirds empty! :)

2. Barbara Bobo... I just realized...
Edited on Wed Jun-21-06 03:35 AM by Syrinx
I believe Barbara Bobo was the name of the fictional actress that "played" Bottles the hot-tub girlfriend in the fictional movie "High School Madness" with Peorgie and Mudhead on the real Firesign Theatre album "Don't Crush That Dwarf... Hand Me The Pliers."

Please Elect "Bottles" to Congress. :)

3. Bobo's not much of a candidate...
Her press announcement talked about how there would be no
mudslinging in her campaign and how Aderholt is a dear friend
that she loves dearly....yech!

4. Sometimes I give up, too, but I still think that if we could get

that early primary spot and get national Democrats to come here and campaign then we might make some inroads into our redness. I mistakenly thought it was a done deal. I didn't realize the DNC had the final say. I read an article that claims that Alabama and South Carolina are finalists for the early primary spot. What I don't understand about that is that South Carolina is already the next primary after New Hampshire so what's the point in choosing them over someone else.

I know that an early primary would not instantly change the situation, but it's a starting point. If people like John Edwards and Wesley Clark and Mark Warner and Evan Bayh and Joe Biden spent some time here talking to people, then maybe some of the ignorance and discrimination against all things Democratic would be lessened. Maybe even Hillary could change some minds and make people around here realize that she is not the living form of Satan.

5. The key to reviving the former southern progressivism
is for southern progressives to get loud, get bold and get in the Repiglicans' faces.

Half of winning is, as they say, a matter of showing up.

Alabama, for instance, has a GOP chairman named "Twinkle." It's time for a campaign to show "Twinkie's" policies to the world.

She should be met with Twinkies everywhere she goes. They're empty, without substance and of no real value. Just like Repiglican politics.

You're spot-on about the next generation. Is it possible to make some kind of outreach to them? They'll follow if you'll lead.

6. Hey GtpCaptMandrake
What do you have against poor ole Twinkles? Anyone with her name deserves a break...

At Auburn we always wondered if her parents were hippies from the 60's. You'd think they would have had to have done a lot of pot to come up with "Twinkles" as a name.

I like the Twinkies idea! That is brilliant!

For any Alabama DU'ers that attend AU or UA games, we should tailgate together. If you are in AU, let me know, I'll be there. Who knows maybe we'll run into Twinkles campaigning for her Repig friends!:hi:

7. Hey, Debau
I've got a break for Twinkles, alright!

I'm guessing her folks weren't hippies. They were praying they'd raise a majorette!

Let's spread the word on the evil Twinkies plot!

to find her this year. It is an election year and football season...She HAS to be around AU for at least one game. I'll take my camera and my Twinkies!
