First of all, I'm a big football fan, but I'm not sure why I should care who some
retired football coaches endorsed for state auditor. Especially when one of them doesn't even live in Alabama.
But I also figure that this was an attempt to launch a political career that is aimed at capturing much higher office than state auditor.
And usually, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Please read, if you haven't already, this
article from the British newspaper The Guardian, about Tuscaloosa's own Representative Gerald Allen, the father of Wes Allen. Gerald's willful ignorance is astounding and appalling!
It pains me to see what international attention that our state gets is focused on hateful misguided bigots such as this.
I have an mp3 of Mike Malloy going off on Gerald Allen that is quite stirring. If someone can tell me of somewhere I can to upload it I'll be glad to share it.
Wes Allen went down barely (49%), but Gerald is unopposed in November. Is there anyone that is qualified and able to take him on as a write-in candidate? We really need someone to step forward to stand for all that is good, and against all that is evil.
I'll tell you one thing. I can't wait to go down to Montgomery and witness first-hand the debates between Gerald Allen and
Patricia Todd in the Alabama House Of Representatives! It could be quite a show!
