2. thanks
But I'm looking for a residential broadband alternative. I can't get cable or dsl because my location is a little bit off the beaten path. And directv's satellite service is pretty expensive and, from what I hear, not very good.

Thanks though. :hi:

3. Dish is not good for the Internet. A friend had it
Contact your phone company and get an ETA on DSL. I found that showing interest often moves them along faster plus that technology seems to be advancing so that remote regions appear to be getting it more rapidly than they did in the past.

I did a turn around for a company in Tuscaloosa a couple of years ago so I know that there are some remote areas. I used to use a CSA that was outside the city with few homes nearby.

5. I live two tenths of a mile and Comcast ran cable to my house
for a $19.99 mo. special for 6 months. They offer many specials and are running one now for 19.99 and $100-150 cash back or Amazon $$ with a free modem. Send me a pm if you're interested and I'll search Fatwallet.com or SlickDeals.net for you and send you the threads. When your special runs out just call them and say the magic words and you'll be offered an extension of 19.99 mo or 29.99 mo for a year. I'm just coming of the 29.99 deal.
