Punch flies on Senate floor
I don't know why Charles Bishop was so mad, because he is an S.O.B.!

MONTGOMERY -- State Sen. Charles Bishop hit Sen. Lowell Barron on the floor of the Senate this afternoon.

The Senate was in recess when Bishop, a Republican from Arley, and Barron, a Democrat from Fyffe, started an animated conversation. Bishop suddenly hit Barron in the face, and Barron fell back onto a desk.

Patrick Harris, assistant secretary of the Senate, said he saw Bishop hit Barron and quickly grabbed Bishop and pulled him back.

Bishop in an interview later said Barron called him a s...o...b, so he hit Barron in the face.

"If he calls me that again, it'll happen again," Bishop said.

1. I just watched it on Talking Points Memo
What is is about crazy southern republican politicians? Oh never mind, that's a rhetorical question - they're crazy after all.

And I'm not taking a swipe at Alabama here, we got crazy republican problems in Texas too.

2. My fiancee asked to her supervisors over at the Alabama Dept. of Education office of general counsel
...whether calling someone an s.o.b. is an insult to ones mother over in the district where Sen. Charles Bishop lived. She knew it wasn't and so did they, since it was the usual excuse BS from the goat hill as always.

3. Bishop won't quit, but will sue over discipline
On Tuesday, the opening day of the 2008 session, the Democrat-controlled Senate split along party lines in approving a resolution that set out sanctions for future violence. Also, the panel that controls Senate committee assignments took Bishop off nearly all Senate committees, including the influential General Fund budget committee.

"We'll be taking legal action," Bishop said Wednesday after consulting with attorneys.
