I'm a little bit nervous about the Florida game, but all of this national championship talk doesn't seem completely crazy anymore.

It's really all starting to remind me of 1992.

The last time the Tide shut out the Tigers was in 1992. 'Bama went on to win what was considered a very unlikely national championship.

The last time we elected a new Democratic president was also in 1992. And this time around, not only did we elect a new Democratic president, but his name is OBama!

Also, I've been told by a few people that signs indicate an unusually harsh winter coming up, and November seemed colder than normal to me, though I haven't looked at the data. The '92-'93 winter is memorable because that's when we had the last major snowstorm in these parts.

Oh, and in 1993 we beat Miami for the NC, and this season the NC game is in Miami.

(Okay, okay. I know none of this really has anything to do with what happens on the gridiron. I just find the parallels strangely comforting. And I'm having trouble managing expectations... especially after the grand surprise of the presidential election.)

2. What was up with the CBS coverage?

They cut away from the UGA-GT game with less than 2 minutes to go.
Then we got a blue screen with the title "Alabama vs. Auburn" or some such for several seconds.
Then saw the teams taking the field, then commercials, then the kick off, then a l-o-n-g spurt of commercials while there was obviously action on the field.
No explanation, no nothing.

5. that was kind of odd

I had gotten interested in the Georgia game during the last several minutes, and wanted to see the end of it. Obviously, I didn't want to miss any of THE GAME, though.

Seems like when they used to have TV double-headers, they would simply delay the kickoff of the second game until the first one was complete. I think that's the way they should still handle it. Some folks would probably complain about the networks dictating things, but I still think that would be better. I didn't really care who won the Georgia-Georgia Tech game, but I had gotten caught up in the drama of it, and would have liked to see the end of it -- as long as I didn't have to miss the kickoff of THE GAME.

13. well, so much for a reprise of 1992

I was disappointed with the outcome of the SEC Championship Game, no doubt.

But I'm definitely not disappointed with the season as a whole. I came into the season expecting seven wins... eight at the most in the regular season, and 'Bama went 12-0 instead.

And we beat Auburn, LSU, Tennessee and Georgia. That's a pretty good season, right there.

If Saban sticks around for awhile, the Tide is going to be awesome. They went 12-0 with only nine scholarship seniors. Just imagine if we get another class or two of players like Julio Jones and Mark Ingram! And I can't wait to unwrap Star Jackson next season, and install his batteries. :)

Oh, and I wouldn't be terribly disappointed if Tim Tebow declared for the draft! Get that freak out of here!

As an Auburn alum, I kinda default to the Tigers, but I'm really not a football fan at all.

Nice to get a little taste of victory again.

And, yeah, I know college football fans can get a little carried away with this stuff. It's fun, though. I do frown, however, on the more vicious partisans, including the Alabama ones. I tend to stay away from fan-boards, though, because many of them are just vile. As a 'Bama fan, I like it when 'Bama wins. I permit myself to get excited when the team is doing well, but try to restrain despair when 'Bama loses. Some will disagree, but there are more important things than college football. :D

Roll Tide Roll for those unfamiliar with the saying. This is great, its beginning to look alot like 92. I was 9 and that was my first full Bama game to watch. I live in Tuscaloosa and the Barners were awesome leaving the city with their number 7, but it wasnt the one they wanted. HAHAHA. I love it, but sadly enough all the Aubs fans I know are now die-hard Florida fans, just becasue they hate us. Cant say I wouldnt feel the same were it reversed. While I was a student at bama we never won, had to sit through all those horrible games, feels good. THis is the first and only time Ive been proud to say our state is painted red.

36-0 what a game. We are good not just lucky, and that scares the shit out of all the anti bama ESPN media people who worship Tebow. Just wait. I think well have a few tricks up our sleeves come saturday.

I bleed Orange and Blue, but If Bama is playing Tennessee, Georgia or Florida,
I swallow my pride and pull for the Tide. Now, if it were South Carolina, Kentucky

I can't understand why Auburn would run Tuberville off for Gene Chizik. It doesn't add up. :shrug:

Can't say that I really like Tommy, but that's probably because he beat Alabama six years in a row. He's a darn good football coach.

And I thought Tuberville was an awesome coach on many levels - especially the tenacity he showed a few years ago when Auburn was trying to oust him on the sly.
I wonder what this will do to the recruitment program for Auburn? Committed recruits do not like it when the coach leaves....
