1. Some Good Places To Eat
--The Highland Bar and Grill
-- Dreamland BBQ Ribs
-- The Bright Star

Honestly JC, these are the best 3 places to eat in Alabama and the Bright Star in particular is the best place that I have ever eaten. I'll provide some links below. Enjoy your visit to B'Ham! :hi:

Also, please feel free to ask any questions about the B'Ham area. I know the Civil Rights Museum is there, among other things. Again, all you have to do is ask.

2. Thanks a bunch!!
I'm sure questions will come up sooner or later. I won't be down there 'till the second week of March, so I'll have plenty more time to think of some!

3. Anyone know how good the Wyndham Hotel is?
Looks like I will be staying there.

BTW, if anyone wants to go out for a drink with me some night...I will be coming alone and will probably be bored as hell at night.

5. Directions of Hotel
Edited on Sat Jan-29-05 02:19 PM by BamaLefty
* It is located in a "better" area of Birmingham, near Mountain Brook. Linn Park is also a nice place to visit. Of course, since this is a political board I have to tell you that that is the area that colors Jefferson County red. ;)

If you have any other interests (sports, art, etc.), feel free to post them and maybe we can find something for you to pass the time...

8. Yes, The "Wynfrey"
Is attached to the Riverchase Galleria (mall) in the suburb of Hoover on the city's south side.

If you are staying there, make sure you check out Don Shula's Steak House inside the hotel. I ate there once and loved it. The menus are actual game used footballs from the Miami Dolphins 17-0 season.

Also, if your a big sports guy, the Birmingham Barons (Class AA) baseball team will be in action.

11. Barons Schedule
Also, we do have a good chance of it being warm in March. It is even going to be around 70 here on Sunday...

6. Attached to the Galleria Mall
in Hoover, southern section of Birmingham, if memory serves. I lived in Birmingham many moons ago, so forgive me if I got this one wrong!

7. I made the same mistake
If it is indeed a mistake. But I think I confused the Wyndham with the Wynfrey. Very similar names, but I think they are both really nice places. The Wynfrey is the one at the Galleria, and is quite luxurious I hear. The Wyndham is in a historic building downtown, I think. :hi:

12. For all you B'ham DUers....
Your city is great. I wish it were warmer this week, but I am enjoying every minute of my stay here! I'm going to the Bright Star tonight, and possibly Dreamland tomorrow.

Later,
JohnnyCougar
