4. Actually, I think we have to have an election

the next time a vacancy comes up mid-term, something that the people voted for last year as a result of the Lisa fiasco. No more appointments by governors or congresspeople stepping down.

6. You know what cracks me up about Alaskans???

Ask them why they love Uncle Ted, and they say "He brings home the pork!"

Then in the same sentence, they proceed to tell everyone how they are big fans of smaller government, autonomous, and do not need government intervention. Then they deride liberals.

All the while they get

Their Permanent Fund checks
Their Longevity Bonus
Their Senior Property Tax defferment
Their native allotments and dividends.
Their subsistence hunting rights
Their fisherman subsidies
Their cannery subsidies


It just kills me that 100% of Alaskans get at least ONE government check per year, and I bet another 55% get some other benefit from a government sponsered program or iniative.

Still, they scream about anyone else getting a handout. It kills me, they bitch about subistence hunting while they are using their permanent fund check to buy a plasma tv.

7. One more freebie they get...

For every couple at senior citizen age, they get to register one vehicle free of charge each year through DMV. I know because as part of my job in 911, I used to also do DMV work (temporarily) until we hired a DMV person.

So say "Rudy and Martha, age 65 and 66 own a Winnebago and a 4-wheel drive Subaru" ...They would come into DMV and get the most expensive one; the Winnebago, registered for free each year under the senior's Alaska benefit. If they both owned the subaru together, they'd have to pay for that one.

But yeah.. seniors get to register one of their vehicles free each year, including getting the yearly tabs for free when the expire every other year.

8. Sadly

Until term limits become law, I will vote for Uncle Ted and Don Young. I abhor everything they and their party stands for. But the name of the game is senior members get the money for their respective states. It's a flawed system, but until it changes I'll do what in my heart benefits Alaska. I understand the hypocrisy of this, but that's how this shameful game is played.
