ANCHORAGE--Sen. Lisa Murkowski is running a campaign spot that says of the two major candidates challenging her, neither has voted for President Bush's tax cuts and against Democratic budget increases.
The ad does not point out that the Republican senator's challengers didn't have the opportunity to vote because they weren't U.S. senators.
"I think that's rather funny," said Republican challenger Mike Miller. "Sure, technically, she is correct."
The 30-second TV spot shows a photograph of Murkowski, flanked by pictures of Miller and Democrat Tony Knowles. "The differences: Only one candidate voted for President Bush's tax cuts, against $1.4 trillion in Democratic budget increases," the ad's narrator says as her photo rises to the top of the screen and the other two drop away.
