There is an online poll on the Juneau Empire home page that asks the following question:
Planned Parenthood is planning to open a Juneau clinic to deal with reproductive issues and provide abortions. Do you think that such a clinic should be opened?
The poll started off with 80% approval for the first few days but the pro-fascism faction in our town has apparently done some excellent networking and/or astroturfing. Please help make this poll more accurately represent Juneau's public opinion by going to the Juneau Empire's home page at
http://www.juneauempire.com scroll way down to near the bottom of the page on the left and answer the poll.
This clinic will provide free, confidential education, and treatment for birth control and STDs for men and women as well as adoption referrals, prenatal care, and abortions. In this way they will
prevent many more abortions than simply forbidding them or intentionally limitting access to services and education.
Planned parenthood complies with federal law by reporting child abuse as well. They will unequivocally improve the health of our community, especially for our youth. What then can anyone say argue against this long-overdue asset to our community?
It is the policy of the current administration that has made Planned Parenthood an ever-increasing need here. We are forbidden to teach the most basic of pregnancy & disease prevention strategies in our schools. The sum of our sex education program is, "Thou shalt not." If a girl is raped, the Department of Injustice's latest guidelines do not require that she even be told about Emergency Contraception, and if she needs an abortion, for whatever reason, she will not get any help from the government and will have to take a plane or a 4-day ferry trip to find a place that will offer her one.
Please help by going to the Juneau Empire home page now and voting in this online poll.
Thanks,
:) Steve
