From the Benson campaign
DIANE BENSON RECEIVES STANDING OVATION AT THE BARTLETT CLUB

Diane Benson addressed the weekly gathering of the Bartlett Democratic Club at the Debarr Denny's on Thursday, August 2nd. Diane’s topic was “Corruption, Election and Politics”. The packed full house was very overwhelmingly receptive to Diane’s impassioned remarks on empowering Democrats and her views on subjects ranging from the most recent Minneapolis bridge collapse, the health care crisis and social security to veterans and military concerns.

Diane’s next public speaking engagement will be at the Mat-Su Democrats Dinner at the Grand View Hotel on August 17th at 6:00 PM. For more information call Gil at 354-0473.

Keep those generous donations rolling in!

I was at this meeting, and Diane was great. This was the second of three speaking engagements she had that day. Tony the Treasurer tells me that the donations are really picking up and that it appears that they will be able to get a permanent campaign office much sooner than expected. He also told me that after the election last year, projections were done that indicated if she had had two more weeks and 80,000 more dollars she would have beaten Don.

On the downside, the DCCC is still not showing much interest (why, I don't know -- maybe she's too progressive for them), and the ADP is somewhat in disarray after Jake Metcalfe's surprise announcement that he's jumping into this race. Not only did he not give a heads-up to Diane's campaign that he was going to do this, but he didn't let the ADP know he was giving up his chairmanship either.

If any of you are unfamiliar with Diane, I urge you to get to know her and her positions. She is the real deal, and not "business as usual."
