He's the director of public transportation for the city of Anchorage. (The guy who has the mega-bucks to spend on the world's most expensive bus stop... ;) )
It's impossible to know if he's a Democrat, Republican or Independent and here's why...
Our mayor :hug: retained people from previous Republican administrations **IF** that person was highly qualified and was doing their job to the communities satisfaction.
In other words.. Mayor Begich was the complete OPPOSITE of Mayor Weurch!
At Mayor Begich's inauguration ceremony, the Anchorage Fire Chief and his wife sat next to me. He told me that he was S-H-O-C-K-E-D that a Democratic mayor would retain a Republican as his fire chief. He commented about how Mark Begich must truly be a remarkable man.
The Fire Chief's wife (she's awesome!) told me that she herself is a Democrat, but that the "old fart" will always be a damned Republican. :rofl: They told me that Begich thoroughly analyzed the chief's background and work history and he decided there was no reason to replace him. He said it was the same deal with other appointees.
It wouldn't have worked that way in a Fink or Weurch world. But that's not the way Begich works.
He has people of all political persuasions proudly working for him! :) So I'd guess that it's a "who knows" as far as Tom Wilson's status goes.
Mayor Begich rocks.. :headbang:
