Alert: Arizona Online Early/Absentee Ballot Requests

Both of my sons requested early ballots online, back around the end of September or beginning of October. One got an email confirmation but the other did not. Neither has received his ballot. The one who did not get a confirmation called the County Recorder to find out what the problem was. He was told there was no record of an early ballot request from him.

Bottom line: If your Arizona early ballot does not arrive, go to your polling place on Election Day and request/insist on casting a provisional ballot. And remember that you may have to be very assertive because the poll workers are often under-trained and over-stressed.

1. Don't be too assertive with an over-stressed poll worker

If they are "over-stressed," maybe being "very assertive" is not the way to go. Be polite and patient. That have to deal with a lot of crap on that day. If some guy came in and started yelling, "Give me my damn provisional ballot!", I would have a difficult time taking him seriously.

Remember, we are the good guys and we can act like civilized people.

2. Better Still

Go cast an early vote NOW. Your sons will likely be asked to sign a form that states they have not cast their mail-in ballot and then they can vote a regular ballot as an early voter. Friday 10/29 is the last day to cast an early ballot.

3. If they should receive their ballots today, they can

do what I did--fill them out and take them (with the envelope) to one of the early voting locations.

I cut right past a TWO HOUR LINE, and have done a fraction of my part to turn AZ BLUE!
