I thought it would slow down a bit, but is has only picked up in pace. There was an article in the newspaper last week about how the demand is exceeding the supply here. The average house costs around 200k now.

I know it's the Californians that are driving the prices up. But what are they doing for jobs once they get here? I'm baffled. Does anyone know?

1. I'm getting the hell out of Tucson asap
I could write a book as to how much this town sucks, liberal city my ass, it's only considered a liberal city because there aren't as many psychotic christian nuts as there are up north in Phoenix, but it's still full of Orange County type pieces a shit who think the world revolves around them, I wouldn't pay half the price they are asking for an average house around here, the economy sucks you're not getting a job out here unless you're willing to sell booze or your body on Congress street, if you can afford a nice place the hell away from everyone and you don't have to work, and you could care less about the outside world or what's beyond your own walls then it's not so bad, otherwise it's just a subsection of Mordor (Phoenix)

Too bad because this place could really develop into a nice community if it weren't for the dreck of rednecks that move here from Phoenix and the OC.

Man I'm counting the days when I get to move as far north as I can from here to Washington State hopefully in the Seattle area. Sure you got nuts no matter where you go, but seriously in New York City I NEVER saw little carts at the mall that proudly sold Confederate items like plate holders and cell phone covers. That kinda shit would get you run out of business, but out here, even in Tucson it's considered normal.

"Yep we thank you're a nigra and we's proud to fly our racist flag in your face boy hehe" Welcome to Tucson!

I don't give a shit if I have to select a neighborhood where nothing but transvestites live in the area, at least I know there won't be any Republicans around (except when any in the closet Republican senator decides to drop by).

3. i'll tell ya, it's liberal until you hit river road.
subsection of mordor...that's funny! lol i wouldn't want to live in phoenix for anything. i never realized how redneckish AZ can be until i got here. i lived in the great bastion of rednecks (texas) so i'm quite familiar with the nonsense. but here in tucson, it was actually a nice escape from that for awhile. in the last couple of years, it has declined rather rapidly. you're right the OC people really drag this place down. Again though, unless they plan on retiring here, what the hell are they doing for jobs?

btw, housing in seattle is pretty bad too. california migrated to seattle in a mass exodus some years back that drove housing through the roof. that plateaued and we are the next seattle. you should see the real estate situation in kingman. it's pretty bad too.

5. I hear ya you're right about Seattle
I only plan on working in Seattle I wouldn't dare try to buy a house there, I plan on getting a place in Silverdale or somewhere around the Pugent Sound area at least in Kitsap county which I spent some time in and really liked it.

There is a nice pocket of progressive people in Tucson, it's just not enough to overcome the reality that too many freaks of the right have planted themselves here.

"Liberal till you hit river road" lol ain't that truth.

7. Flowing Wells area just sucks!
Plain and simple. Stone West to the Freeway, Grant North to Ina. That entire section is poor white trash Bushites who define Trailor Park Trash.

My section, up by Tortilita, is nice.

If Tucson is liberal, I'm fucking Santa Claus. There are just as many Christian Conservative asshats, even more.

These people are also stone age stupid.

2. North Jersey, ca. 20 miles from New York City.
The values of property keep rising, maybe 10-15% per year. In one town, an undeveloped half acre of land goes for $500,000. A Cape Cod on a lot (1/2 acre) starts at $350,000-400,000. Homes that are in good condition, built in the 1930s or 1940s are purchased and razed, in order to build the castles that reflect the wealth of the new owners. New neighbors are commenting on the longtime residents, saying that they should sell and move away as they "don't belong" in these "new" affluent communities.

4. that's too bad. a lot of history in those older homes.
i'm not surprised about the cost for a 1/2 acre. our prime lots are outrageous too. but most homes are not on 1/2 acre lots here. a 1/2 acre is a big plot of land. i think most homes that are built are on 1/4 lot. more like patio homes based on square footage. in other words, minimal yard.
