Or is Kyl unbeatable?

1. I love Terry Goddard
Too bad I moved out of Arizona, or I'd vote for him.

2. I haven't seen any positive speculation by him
but he's been floated. Jim Pederson might run.

Damnit, I really hope we can beat him. Come on Jon... screw up somehow.

3. Kyl is vulnerable, and Goddard could do it.
He was wildly popular as Phoenix mayor and is continuing to be a popular AG.

With serious grassroots work, AZ could go very blue in 2006. But if party chair Pederson runs we aren't going to have leadership at the state level. If he feels he must, I hope he resigns soon.

I see Goddard as having a much better chance than Jim Pederson.

4. I listened to Pederson at a rally with Edwards in Sept...........
in Tucson. I wasn't really impressed. Many others there were more effective at getting the crowd aroused before Edwards arrived.

I don't know much about Goddard (only lived here for 3 years and the 1st two I wasn't into politics)......enlighten me!!

8. He was Phoenix mayor and narrowly lost the governor's race

(can't remember to who now--hmm?!).

He was a GREAT mayor; he expanded the parks and library (I'm a library employee, so I like that) system and beefed up police and firefighting. He was very popular as mayor.

Edit: he was also mayor during Phoenix's real boom years--a very tough challenge. He's make an excellent Senator. I suspect the competition will be tough between him and Pederson, but Goddard has the popularity to win both a primary and against Kyl.

He's a politician in the BEST sense of the word. He knows how to get things done that will benefit the most people and knows how to make alliances.

Nice guy in person, too.

9. If Pederson decides to run how about...
Goddard for State Party Chairman. Not only would he be great, but he'd be following the family tradition.

12. I'm not even convinced Kyl is going to run ...
I know I know .. but hear me out.

I think that the JD opt out had more to do with his desire to run for senate than his fear of Janet (thought a little of both was there I'm sure).

Kyl hasn't said yet he will run, and there has been grumbling inside the beltway that he won't. He REALLY REALLY REALLY wants to be a justice ...and look at his votes lately - does he even mildly look like a guy who is going to run again? Also - he didn't even get to sit on stage with Bush at the event yesterday. I'm thinking he says no.

JD runs for Senate .. CD 5 is open ... Terry sticks with the AG race (man wants to be Gov not Senator) ... Romley seriously considers running for CD 5 ... Renzi takes serious look at both Gov (says no) and then Senate ...

I don't know .. maybe this is all too crazy.
