This might be worth trying...
Air America has AM stations in the major cities but why not set up a network of low powered FM stations across each state to relay the signal?
The evangelicals have been doing this for years. LPFM stations are not too expensive to set up and run, they aren't like starting up a new high powered radio station.
There are way too many small to medium towns where the only radio available is a right wing nutcase AM talk station with the usual Limbaugh/Hannity lineup, two or three evangelical bible-thumper stations on low powered FM, plus a country station and a rock station. Anyone who wants politics on their radio will only get the right wing kind. If we could blanket the nation with LPFM stations in small towns...
In Arizona I'm thinking in particular of towns like Show Low, Yuma, Page, and Safford, basically anyplace with only right wing talk outlets right now that is out of the range of either Phoenix's AM 1010 or the Needles, California station that carries Ed Schultz.
Window Rock and Tuba City would both be ideal for LPFM stations carrying AA. It would just take some fundraising to set the stations up.
