"Bring the Troops Home" Senate Candidate to Run Against Kyle
A friend of ours from LD12 who ran for State House several times, has been drafted to Iraq. He is a Middle School teacher and in the National Gaurd. They called him up to head for Iraq. While there he is determined to write back home and tell folks the reality on the ground there. His desire to be as vocal as possible on these issues and the need to "Bring the troops home" has insipred him to run for Senate against Kyle as the Progressive Democrat in the Primary. He will run on a "Bring the troops home" platform and be the voice of experience being on the ground there. Here are his letters: http://spidel.net/PHP-Nuke/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=9

1. Excellent news!
He's got some stiff competition, indeed, for the primary, but IMHO, Kyl, as Bush's #1 butt-lick, is quite vulnerable.

No matter who beats Kyl, Arizona wins.

Do you ever see him on cspan?
I want to throw something at the tv when he's on:silly:

3. Speaking of embarassing Republicans
the state's history has been filled with them.

Anyone remember Jack Williams, Paul Fannin, Evan Meacham, Fife Symington? -- and I'm not even getting into the legislature or the current congressional delegation. (Renzi is my congressman and I could scream, since there are more Dems in this damned district! But things could be worse -- I could be represented by Trent Franks.)

On the statewide level, with the possible exceptions of McCain and Hull, every Republican senator and governor since statehood has been an embarassment! Barry Goldwater actually looks good compared to these twits. Hayworth makes him look like George Washington.

I guess Kolbe is passable, but if you can't get a shimmer of compassion by being gay and Republican, you're completely hopeless.

Oh well, things could be worse: we could be in Utah.

6. Who are the other Democrats running?
You said he would be the "progressive Democrat" in the primary.

Does that mean there are "centrist Democrats" who've already announced their intentions to be candidates.

10. Jim Pederson may run
There has been some talk about Jim Pederson running. I don't think he's made it official yet. I think he is the "centrist Democrat".

The only other name I've heard is Liz Michael. She announced plans to run against McCain but dropped out and then announced she would run against Kyl in 2006. She would be the "libertarian Democrat" if she did run. Antigovernment views probably wouldn't sit well with most in the party.

Other names I've heard are just rumors: Janet Napolitano, etc.

7. I think Kyl is beatable.
He will certainly lose here in Tucson, and I hope that
Arizona voters statewide regect him.
This soldier mentioned in the original post sounds like
someone I might support.
