back to Oregon! I lived on Air America Phoenix - when I lived there. I don't think I could have handled it otherwise!

4. Ed Schultz talked about losing 1010 to Religious Wackos

He said the other day the station went from near bottom to 3rd place on the AM dial and the owner took the profit when they sold to an all Christian broadcaster (One of 15 in Phoenix). Google it. I saw something on FreeperVille and they see it as a little victory even as Air America an Ed are growing nicely.

Phoenix, Arizona needs help getting back on the air!

We really, really need a liberal voice for the election year.

You may know that KXXT was purchased by a Christian broadcast group.

Bob Christy did a great job as GM of Air America Phoenix.

Can anyone provide help to get him, the station back?

John Kyl is up for re-election. Jim Pederson's son was arrested recently by Sheriff Joe, Dub's buddy. Pederson is opposing Kyl this fall.

We have a potential successor to Harris of FL and Blackwell of Ohio here in Arizona.

The station is desperately missed by its listeners, as well as being critical to making progress locally and nationally in 2006.

Please help.

Just asking them to help get back on the air in Phx.
It's been a rough week. Gonna take some getting used to.
I scanned the entire AM dial today.
There is already several Christian stations.
Lots of sports, lots of health talk.
No M&M, no Jeff & Kristen.

And the rw have 2 stations. 910(? could be 960) Patriot Talk, and 550...
and we have nothing. This is bs.

but here is my letter to Dr. Mike regarding the money situation:

Mike,

I am so thrilled to hear this news. I am desolate since March 1, the day I have since dubbed Red Wednesday. I'll never forget tuning in to hear Charles and instead hearing some pious schmuck droning on and on about some bible passage. At first I thought it was a caller, and I kept waiting to hear what Charles was going to say. Alas, I finally realized that the dark day I dreaded had arrived.

To the tune of "I Want My MTV" I have been singing "I Want My AAR."

I do have one question, though. It is my understanding that 1010 was sold after repeated offers were made and the profit became simply "obscene" and could not be ignored any longer. I heard this on the Charles Goyette show as the explanation for why the station was sold out from under all of us, you included.

That being the story, maybe someone can explain to us listeners why we need to bankroll the new project. It is reminiscent of fat cats like Colangelo who get the taxpayers to build him a stadium in order for him to rake in huge profits so he can live in luxury. I'm not saying the owners of AAR Phoenix are in the same league as Colangelo financially (although who knows, maybe they are?) but based on the reasons given for the sale of the station, that is what this whole scenario reminds me of.
