Anyone hear the rumor Ted Danson may run for Renzi's seat?
Here is his "boo-hoo poor me" letter to his "frineds" courtesy of a friend who shared his newsletter....just wondering if anyone has heard whether Danson will accept as he is a Native Arizonan. His parents live in N Az.

March 30, 2006

Dear Friend and Supporter:

At midnight tomorrow the deadline for this year's first quarter reporting period comes to a close.  I am asking you to make a secure online contribution to my campaign before that deadline becomes a reality.

As I write this, I have three different Democrat opponents running against me.  On top of that, Flagstaff's NBC affiliate reported last week that the Democratic National Committee is actively recruiting Ted Danson to run against me.  Does that name sound familiar?  It should.  It's the same Ted Danson from the television show, "Cheers."

The liberals in Washington have simply become desperate.

It seems that the Democrat Party has found their new candidate, but they had to go all the way to Hollywood to find him.

Ted Danson is one of only a handful of people who is to the political left of Ted Kennedy and Howard Dean. That's no easy accomplishment!  Ted does have a lot of "experience" in Washington.  After all, he was one of Bill and Hillary Clinton's guests in the Lincoln Bedroom, and with an agenda to the left of theirs it's no wonder the Democrat elite are begging him to run against me.

Danson's political experience is also well-documented by the amount of money he has given to the most liberal of politicians.  Since 2002, he has made contributions to Barbara Boxer ($4,000); Howard Dean ($2,000); John Edwards ($2,000); John Kerry ($1,000); and my personal favorite Paul Babbitt ($2,000) - just to name a few.  These figures do not include the tens of thousands of dollars he has given to the Democrat party, nor does it include the tens of thousands of dollars his wife, actress Mary Steenburgen, has given to liberal candidates and causes.

This recruitment should be taken very seriously.

Danson will easily be able to fund his own campaign with millions of his own dollars - not to mention the gazillions he will raise out of "Hollyweird."

That's why I need your support today more than ever.

I must send a strong message to the liberal Washington establishment that my campaign is strong and ready for anything - or anyone - they throw at me.  There is no better way to send this message than by having a huge cash-on-hand figure on my next financial report.

You have been so generous in the past.  I am counting on you to send in your most generous contribution that you can afford TODAY by going here.  We must have a strong showing on our March report if we are to make the DNC and the Hollywood left think twice about putting this congressional seat into the hands of the liberals.

Please do not delete this email.  Your contribution today of $2,000, $1,000, $500, $250, $100 or whatever you can afford could literally mean the difference in this campaign.  So, please log on to www.rickrenzi.com and make a secure online contribution today.

I cannot thank you enough for being on my team and hope you will continue your support.

Sincerely,

Rick Renzi

OK...think I'm gonna :puke: now

1. Flagstaff has an NBC affiliate?
Edited on Fri Mar-31-06 06:55 PM by ThoughtCriminal
On edit - apparently yes - KNAZ
I thought it was just a satellite station of Channel 12 (KPNX) from Phoenix, but they do have their own newscast.

2. His dad passed away a while back, not sure if his mom is still
alive either. My family was/is part of the sw archeology and Museum of Northern Arizona crowd. Mr. Danson was a very nice gentleman, I remember him dancing with my sister at a wedding - she must have been 9 or 10. Never met Ted.

sorry, this reeally had nothing to do with the post and I am NOT in the lounge am I?

3. Dang...I must have missed that. It must
have been recently??

Geez, I thought they were just down with Ted at the Sedona Film Festival...but hell , that coulda been a few years ago. I lose track of time anymore.

Cool story...MNA crowd, eh? Thanks for sharing, Kali :)
(Glad you posted- I never go to the lounge anyway)

I can't imagine Ted really doing it but Renzi can piss off a saint.

5. If you ask me, MNA was way more of a magic vortex
than Sedona could ever wish to be. Lots of good times for a kid.

6. Amazing that they complain about a celebrity running as a Democrat
Imagine that. There has never been a GOP republican candidate for say, oh, Governor of CA, or President of the US.

:sarcasm:

As for Danson being far left, I don't know. But again they've got the most right wing crowd possible in power now.

What's good for the heffalump is good for the donkey.

8. Who looks desperate here? lol
"The liberals in Washington have simply become desperate."

Well, I think your letter looks pretty desperate too Ricky. This would be great if it were true. I hope it is but it's probably an attempt to scare his base into coughing up more dough. In any case I sent it out to my friends so they could chuckle at the desperate tone of the letter. Thanks for posting it!
