Taking back Az - let's talk about November.
People keep coming into the race. Thankfully.

Thought we should start a thread on who is up for re-election, and who their opponent is.

Here's a great site to start.
http://www.uselections.com/az/az.htm

You have to scroll down to the bottom.

My first question, do you think Janet will get re-elected?
Yesterday they had a poll in the Az Republican that was about how often she vetoes -
too much, or ok? It was a narrow lead for approval of her vetoes.

I'm in District 20, and I heard on aar that Huppenthal has an opponent, but I didn't write down her name. I will do more research, and update.

1. Are there any other AZ blogs/forums that are worth going to?

2. there's a page for Arizona in the Research Forum
it might take a little bit to find, it hasn't been touched in a while. also, for straight research, the "Arizona statewide elections, 2006" article is somewhat extensive.

anyway, www.wactivist.com covers alot of AZ politics, and it has links to a few other AZ-specific blogs.

yes, I think Janet will be re-elected, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't use this rare opportunity--a popular dem's re-election campaign--to start building the grassroots to prepare for 2008.

4. Kyle supporting Bush/NSA's illegal telephone monitoring
of US citizens with out warrants should be a great campaign issue. Kyle has done nothing for Arizona or the US except function as the point man for the Bush administration.

Jim Kolbe's retirement, leaves it wide open for Democrats to win his seat.

5. Speaking of what our Senators have done for AZ
What has McCain done?
I really don't know???

I see two Senators that could give a crap about us.

The only one that seems to fight for the people of this state is Janet.

You hear about great things that other senators do in their states, but I honestly don't know what Kyl or McCain have done to help AZ?

6. McCain is at least half of McCain-Kennedy and Feingold-McCain
and he opposed the Bush tax cuts back when he still had one testicle.

Other things he's done have been opposing the Republican's 'nuclear' option, waffling on ANWR, prisoner abuse, and the marriage amendment, and supporting the prosecution of ethics violations by big tobacco.

But other then that, he's been a complete lock-step Republican, supporting the Iraq war, favoring complete deregulation, privatizing our government since Bush was re-elected, and never opposing Bush's extreme court or admin appointments.
