Are there mosquitoes in Arizona?

We have beaucoups of them in the Southeast, but I wondered, being that it's so dry in the Southwest if they're able to hatch and proliferate.

1. Actually, we do, yes
Normally I only get chewed up during our monsoon rain season and occasionally if we actually get a wet winter (which we didn't in Tucson this past year). They're not as prevalent as in other areas of the country, but we do get them.

3. I never saw a single mosquito here until about five years ago.
Now, among other breeds, we see Aedes aegypti, known to carry Dengue Fever--although no cases have been reported in Arizona, to my knowledge.

4. Yes - but they leave me alone
I grew up in Alabama - always had plenty of bites. But somehow I don't seem to attract them here. My wife on the other hand, is a favorite target.

Irrigation and unmaintained swimming pools are major breeders in Arizona.

5. They hang out at golf courses, too!
Watering greens every day will breed 'em like crazy!
