Last night's New River Forum offered candidates for 15 offices the opportunity to present their platforms.
And I'm proud to say that Democrats shined. I had the opportunity to kick off the evening and talked about the need for a return of balance, accountability, and integrity to Congress and the need to drive forward a progressive agenda for America and Arizona. Mr. Shadegg didn't show; his former chief of staff, Sean Noble, who recently departed to serve Len Munsil, spoke on Mr. Shadegg's not very impressive behalf.
In my judgment, the good news of the evening was the strength and clarity of purpose and articulateness and thoughtfulness of the Democratic candidates -- Israel Torres, Rano Singh, Mark Manoil, Jason Williams, and Jim Larson. Each was great.
Their forward-looking positions stood in marked contrast to the reactionary, backward looking, regressive, and punitive stances of the Rs.
I'm proud to stand with them all.
