Poll question: Prop 201 poll, part deux...

Another sure sign of Californication in a State, along with wild increases in property "values", is the inevitable plan to prohibit smoking. I lived through the smoke wars in CA in the 90's and it is shaping up exactly the same way here. Same plan, same arguments and same underlying motive, that being "you are too stupid to make the 'right' decision, so we will force it on you".
Yes, I am biased. I am adamantly opposed to this form of authoritarianism, just as I am to every other. I believe, as it is/was an Arizona tradition to, that if we all just stay out of each others business, we will get along much better.

1. I fully support 201 NOT 206

As a person who cannot tolerate smoke filled bars (bad lungs) I am unable to go out dancing, playing pool, bowling, or any other activity where a lot of smoke can be found.

Also studies have found that business do better where there are smoking bans (another good reason to support 201)

2. There are a plethora of studies that say the opposite too.

I have no faith in studies anymore, since everybody that pays for them pays to have their POV supported. My personal experience is that I know 6 owners of dedicated drinking establishments (not restaurants, but bars), 4 in LA and 2 in Chicago, all of whom have told me similar stories, that being that after trying, or being forced by law, to ban smoking in their bars they experienced a ~40% drop-off in gross sales.

Apparently non-smokers don't drink as much and don't tip as well as smokers, which could be a major issue here as Phoenix/Scottsdale residents are notoriously bad tippers already.

As a person with breathing problems I certainly understand your concern, but why not leave it to the owners to decide whether they want to allow it or not? There are also the options of Tempe and Mesa that already ban smoking in their cities.

3. I support it

because it allows provisions on certain establishments where you can smoke, and one of the few places I do smoke is in the actual cigar shop (yes, I do smoke, and yes, I smoke cigars, let the Freud jokes begin) where I buy what I smoke.
