do something else. have a regular job. don't run for office just for the sake of it-- I'm sure there are alot of future Governors who are 19 right now, the vast majority of whom will never actually run for or get elected to anything.
look, I like you, robey. you're enthusiastic about getting involved, but the country and the party need dedicated grassroots progressive activists much more than candidates-in-waiting. get involved now, and dig in, to really see what running for anything is like, and, through seeing candidates up close, what being an elected official is really like, and if it doesn't turn you off, you might, one day, get the opportunity to run, for something local.
right now, there's a slate of hardworking candidates running for dozens of offices you should help. the one race you should definitely help out is Ed Ableser and David Schapira running for the State House in LD17, the only truly competitive legislative district, control of which will determine how often the Governor gets to use her veto to protect Arizona from our nutjob legislatue. their joint campaign website is
http://www.edanddavid.com/other than that, since you're a young person, you should get involved with the Young Democrats of Arizona; their website is www.ydaz.org, but it's down right now, so try again later.
other than that, check the municipalities you live in to see when their elections are going to be held. Phoenix and other cities will be holding their elections in the Fall, so try to hook up with good Democratic candidates to help them out in their efforts.
But you should remember this: first you have your life, then your career, then your activism, and running for office is a chance that only comes along not if you think you can run, but if you could handle the responsibility of being a public official. Also, participating in the process might discourage you from ever being active again, something I've seen happen to alot of activists, young and old, and nearly did me in earlier in this campaign cycle. got any questions, private message me.
