Maricopa County gets an "F" for air quality.

It's report-card time for air quality, and Maricopa County has failed - again.

For the eighth year in a row, the county earned an "F" for ozone pollution on the American Lung Association's air-quality scorecard.

4. No, dust pollution is different than ozone pollution

Dust pollution is also a problem here but ozone pollution which is worse in the summer doesn't cause the brown cloud so it gets less attention.

From the article: "Ozone can be reduced with fewer vehicles on the road and fewer of the products that emit ozone-forming pollutants. Other states have limited the amount of volatile organic compounds that can be in paints and other household supplies. VOCs react with nitrogen oxides and sun to make ozone."
