Petitioners and Team Leaders Needed for Ballot Initiatives in 2007-2008--Arizona and Michigan.
The Marijuana Policy Project is seeking petitioning team leaders and individual petitioners (depending on your experience level) to collect signatures to put marijuana-related initiatives on a handful of November 2008 statewide ballots.
Depending on the state, the petitioning will take place between May 2007 and August 2008. Team leaders and petitioners need not commit to working for that full time period, however.
The job opportunities are as follows:
Team Leaders: Team leaders will be needed to manage petitioner teams, in addition to doing their own canvassing. Team leaders must work well with people and be hard-working and highly organized.
Petitioners: Petitioners will collect signatures from registered voters to place MPP's initiatives on the ballot. Petitioners will be paid by the number of valid signatures they obtain from registered voters. Petitioners must look mainstream and present themselves well.
All petitioners, canvassers, and team leaders will work as independent contractors. Consequently, they must pay their own payroll taxes (which will not be withheld from their paychecks), and MPP will not be able to provide housing, health insurance, or retirement benefits.
If you are interested in applying, please send an e-mail message -- with either "Team Leader" or "Petitioner" in the subject line -- to resumes {at} mpp.org that (1) provides your complete contact information, (2) explains what canvassing or petitioning experience you have, if any, (3) lists the dates that you are available to start and stop working, and (4) includes a copy of your resume.
Thank you for your interest in working with MPP!
Please visit www.mpp.org/jobs for detailed job descriptions for each of the above positions and instructions for applying. MPP is not taking phone calls about these positions; rather, all interested candidates should apply by using the process described at the links above.
