(AP) Sheriff's deputies in Ash Fork say a 51-year-old man married a teenage girl and then invited other men to have sex with her while he took photographs.

Donald Leacock has been indicted on 24 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Coconino County Sheriff's spokesman Gerry Blair says deputies were called to a home in the town west of Williams in late February by a 14-year-old girl who wanted them to stand by while she moved out of Leacock's house.

The girl told deputies that Leacock had fondled her and taken nude pictures and that he lived with his 16-year-old wife.

Blair says detectives believe Leacock would post photos of his wife on the Internet and then invite other men to have sex with her. One of those men has been arrested and others are being sought.

I'm sorry, as sick as this is, if the state says she is old enough to get married, then she's old enough to have sex, both within and outside of her marriage. I don't see how you can get someone for statutory rape when the victim is married, that just seems wrong (since marriage implies sex)

The age of consent here in Holland is 16, imho a reasonable age - who really waits till they are 18 by choice now a days?

as well, considering the often use of it to embrace child brides, it should be. but the fact is that the State of Arizona (assuming they were legally wed in the eyes of the State) says she is old enough to have sex with her husband, I don't see how they can now say she's not old enough to have sex with other people. For those who have forgotten the equation, procurement is the other half of prostitution (in many cases).

Then there is the 14 year old.

Then there is the issue as to whether or not the 16 year old consented, or was forced.

it is perfectly legal to invite people to have sex with your wife and take pictures, it is even legal to sell those pictures. it is not legal to charge someone money to have sex with your wife.

and the 14 year old is a whole nother story, but the article implies that at least one other person has been arrested for having sex with his wife, and frankly, I think that is useless. if you are old enough to get married, and do get married sanctioned by the State, then you are emancipated and should be able to have sex with anyone you choose.

and may be subject to various laws around the US.

Though I understand many people think a man may use his property, that is, his wife, in any way he so chooses, there are a few laws on the books that deny this "right" of marriage.

The story doesn't give much information one way or the other.

There is still the issue as to whether or not the 16 year old wife did this of her own free will or not. I noticed in the new link that AZ is using the "vulnerable adult" definition. I'm not sure how this will tie in with the whole issue.

I'm on my way to work shortly so I don't have the time needed to research all the laws on the books this guy may be guilty of breaking. Nor do I have time to debate this issue with you beyond this one post.
