Email to vile Kyl
I have no illusions about how much good it will do. I also sent it to McCain.

Dear Senator Kyl,

Although I may not be a member of your "base," I am one of your constituents. I am deeply concerned about the lack of cooperation you and your Republican colleagues are showing toward the Whitehouse's efforts to move our country forward. President Obama has attempted bipartisanship and the Republicans in Congress have responded with partisan bickering. This, while thousands are losing their jobs and homes. Why? So wealthy Americans can continue to escape paying taxes? Tax cuts have not worked in the past and in fact, are a remnant of failed Reaganomics. All they serve to do is enlarge the deficit and increase the disparity between rich and poor. Have you ever had to decide between medicine and food? Between paying the light bill or buying shoes for a child who has outgrown his? Please realize that only a very few of your constituents are well off.

I really want to know why you oppose programs to improve infrastructure. I want to know why you oppose funding for science and technology research. Why do you energy-related R&D? Funding the Army Corps of Engineers? Modernizing our nation's electrical grid? Making our schools safe and ensuring that schools have the funds to function and repair buildings? Aid to college students? Funding to VA so our veterans can have adequate health care when they return from serving our nation overseas? Please explain why you oppose helping Americans and insist on tax cuts for the wealthy. They do not stimulate job growth but only to concentrate the nation’s wealth in the hands of a few.

Our nation is at a crossroads and needs help like never before. Clinging to the old saw about tax cuts is not helping. It is obstructionist and counterproductive. Please encourage your senate colleagues to remember that their constituents are real people, not numbers, not the wealthy. They are regular folks who try to make a living and face daily stress over losing jobs and homes.

Thank you for your time.

1. I just called his office and spoke to a real, live person!
(202) 224-4521

I told them that I am in Chandler, and the gov't of Chandler - which is run by Republicans is waiting for this stimulus bill to pass. We get a weekly paper here and the headline last week was about how the city of Chandler is excited for Obama's stimulus plan to pass because we have shovel ready projects that will create jobs.

How can he fight that?

It's just like all the mayors, R and D, want this bill to pass.
It's the stupid Repukes on the Hill that are out of touch.

2. Cool.
It's hard for me to make phone calls during the day so I emailed. You made a great point about city governments needing the money NOW!

Too many cities have squandered their revenues by giving retail developers such huge sales tax concessions. Now those decisions are biting them in the butt and they need the stimulus funds. Where are our local leaders????

3. Local leaders? Unfortunately for us - this state just got a little redder.
I was so hopeful in November, I really thought we would do it. :(

4. GOP coming out of the gravel on this one
I've been commenting on Az Republic this last couple of weeks to try and counter the ridiculous comments going on. It's more than normal. Someone must've called out their troops.
