1. That explains all the med-i-copters this afternoon.
I work about a half a mile south of UMC.

Very heavy air traffic today.

2. It was crazy.
Big white van, I think it flipped up over the guardrail in the median. I actually heard the crash - thought it was a semi popping a tire, but it didn't have the flapflapflap sound after the bang.

Didn't really think anything else until the the sirens - even then didn't pay attention - even that is getting too regular out here, but then the helicopters started flying around - thought it was border patrol until I saw the eastbound traffic backed up. Those poor people.

4. careful is my middle name
well, not really;) but the wind through here tends to run the same direction as the road - between Benson and Vail is where it blows across the pavement at each of the canyons the highway crosses - that gets hairy sometimes.

6th Burundi refugee dies from injuries suffered in van rollover in southern Arizona
TUCSON, Ariz. June 5, 2009 (AP)
The Associated Press

Authorities say a sixth person has died from injuries from a rollover accident earlier this week in southern Arizona involving Burundi refugees.

A van carrying 17 people crashed Wednesday afternoon when the driver lost control on Interstate 10 near Texas Canyon, about 50 miles east of Tucson.

Five people were declared dead at the scene and 12 others were flown to Tucson-area hospitals.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety reported the sixth death Friday and said two of the injured remained in critical condition.

All 17 were Burundi refugees who had been resettled in Tucson by an international agency.
