1. Janet always vetoed these wingnut attacks on Women's Rights
Brewer embraces them. It's going to be bleak here for women's health care.

And the Leg's financial shennanigans are assuring a decline like California is in.

Arizona ranks 39th -- not far from the bottom -- in per capita income. Arizona's rank is 4th in spending for prisons and 50th in spending for education.

I'm trying to figure out how, exactly, these new abortion restrictions will make our state a better place to live.

Then again, there is a simple answer to the question, "Why so many morons in our state legislature?" Well, it may be because....

When it comes to intelligence, surveys conducted in 2005 and 2006 ranked Arizona dead last among the states.

:dunce: :banghead:

3. I used to live in AZ
The reason the state legislature is less than desirable is the lack of pay. Legislators are only paid 24,000 a year which means only independently wealthy people can serve there. No one who has to support a family can afford to be in the legislature. This means that you get the rich and the retired to serve which is not representative of the people of the state.

6. hmmm
that is a good point, i struggle to feed myself with just $18000 (if I'm lucky and I'm highly subsidized by my folks) a year. I wish we could have a law that if you're worth $$$, you forgo the pay. But I don't think that would be too fair...maybe.

5. Having lived in a neighboring state which shall remain
nameless, (and having graded CPA exams from all over the country)I find that assertion not credible.
