To My Friends and Colleagues Who Live in Tucson - IMPORTANT !!!!!
I try to keep the PSR mailings to a minimum, but this is a very important matter:
I would really like you to reserve the evening of August 20th (time to be determined) to
attend a premiere showing of the film "Countdown to Zero" at El Con Mall. We want
hundreds of people at the showing to convey the message to our political leaders, particularly
Senators Kyl and McCain, that we need to move towards the elimination of nuclear weapons.
The film focuses on why the weapons are no longer relevant, no longer serve a purpose, but
remain a threat to humanity, particularly in the hands of terrorists. This film was produced by
the same people who produced "An Inconvenient Truth." It is good.
Physicians for Social Responsibility and WILPF and others are trying to arrange a panel
discussion after the movie.
The entrance fee is the same as any movie, but we are able to reserve/secure FREE TICKETS.
As you may know, Senator Kyl is leading the Republican resistance to approval of the New Start
treaty with Russia. New Start is an essential step in reducing strategic nuclear weapons on both sides.
Senator Kyl needs to be encouraged, along with Senator McCain to change his mind, since his
arguments have been refuted by experts. Again, I want to emphasize the importance of your attendance.
By joining others, you can make a difference.
If you would, please send this email (change as you would like) to your local email list, personally
encouraging your friends and fellow organizational members to reserve the date. Thanks so much!!
