http://www.azcentral.com/news/election/azelections/articles/2011/06/15/20110615russell-pearce-recall-election-signatures-verified.htmlThe Maricopa County Elections Department has verified enough signatures
to call a special recall election for Senate President Russell Pearce,
according to the group lobbying for the recall.
Citizens for a Better Arizona said they were told by the county on Wednesday
morning that 8,239 signatures had been verified. They needed 7,756 to get
a recall election. County officials said the results are still unofficial.
"This guarantees there will be an election and at the rate they are going,
it's almost a given that the election will be in November," said Citizens
for A Better Arizona Chairman Chad Snow.
The verification will continue. The group turned in 16,949 signatures,
and they all must be reviewed before the county submits the final results
to the Secretary of State's Office. The Secretary of State then has five
days to approve the results. Gov. Jan Brewer then has 15 days to call an election.
:woohoo:
