Fall is Football season – pro, college, high school, grade school
You’re gonna watch the game anyway, why not make it a Kerry event!
Get your sports buddies together at a bar and wear your Kerry buttons.
Watch the game – cheer, root and have fun!
You get to watch the game and score points with your sweetie: “Dear, it’s for a really important reason. Protecting our country, Giving our Troops a smart Commander, saving our Children, building a better economy, healthcare, and the environment.”
Why meet at a bar?
1. Show visibility 2. Gain their trust – people trust others who share their enthusiasms 3. Create camaraderie
2 of you is good enough, 4 is better, more is Awesome! You make an impact just walking in and having a beer.
You don't have to be Full-On fan. Hey, lots of people who don't follow football got to Super Bowl parties.
Be friendly. Give a toast or two for Kerry during commercials. Buy a patron a beer, if moved to do so. Schmooze with the owner - you never know, they might be willing to put a Kerry window sign up.
Don’t preach- don't initiate politics – unless you are comfortable in that bar
Listen to folks if they bring up Kerry. If people ask for stickers or buttons, oblige them. A bar full of people with Kerry stickers & buttons on would be a beautiful thing
Don't argue politics. Bars are too volatile a place to do that, and it won't help the cause.
“Hey, I'm here to watch the game.”
If someone tries to bait you into a stupid argument, a simple answer is "Hey, I'm here to watch the game.” Or use Harry Truman's line "If you want to live like the Republicans, then you better vote for the Democrat." This always gets a laugh, even from Right Wingers. Variation – “I wanna live like the Republicans, that’s why I vote for Democrats.”
