Please forward to all Arizonians:

Dear folks,
Seniors for America urges you to vote for NINA TRASOFF and MARK MANOIL for seats on the Arizona Corporation Commission. Though many people don't even know the Commission exists, these are powerful offices that impact every Arizona resident, every day. The commissioners represent all of Arizona and oversee the state's gas, electric and telephone rates as well as pipeline safety, railroad safety and intrastate securities fraud in addition to being
the central office for all corporate filings.
We believe that Nina and Mark are intelligent, articulate advocates who will work hard on your behalf ... commissioners who will make it their business to reach out and listen to their constituents, and stay well-informed about commission business.

DO YOU KNOW?
The current commissioners have given permission for 12 new power plants to be built in Arizona. These are merchant plants owned by out-of-state interests, not local power companies. These plants will use Arizona water resources, require additional natural gas pipelines through the State, put upward pressure on State gas prices and pollute the air, but virtually all the power will be going to California!
PLEASE ASK YOURSELF!
* Do you want Arizona to become an energy colony for other States because Arizona pollution standards are weaker than neighboring states?
* Do you want Arizona's limited water supplies, especially in the current drought, to be used to create energy Arizonians don't need and will rarely use?
* Would you rather see an emphasis on making Arizona the Clean Energy
Capital of America?
Nina Trasoff and Mark Manoil believe that clean energy produces more jobs, benefits everyone, and will build a better future for our children and grandchildren. We believe Nina and Mark are the right candidates for all progressive voters in Arizona.

NINA TRASOFF was an award-winning journalist at KGUN-TV9 in Tucson. She wants to bring her skills as a reporter to the Commission, asking the hard questions, such as:
* Why was Kinder Morgan - the $700 million company responsible for the gas line break in Tucson - fined a mere $325,000 after disrupting that community, destroying five homes and polluting the aquifer?
* Why didn't the Commission do a better job of checking the pipeline's safety after two major episodes on other Kinder Morgan pipelines in the months/years just before our line broke?
* How well is the Commission tracking the safety of other pipelines that criss-cross the State carrying natural gas, jet fuel and other volatile substances?
* Why did current commissioners sign away our right to be informed if a safety problem is found in a pipeline?

MARK MANOIL is a 4th generation Arizonan who cares very much about the natural beauty of Arizona - and the well-being of its citizens. As a lawyer and MBA, Mark would bring his business and legal background to the Commission to make certain Arizonan's interests are put first. Mark is committed to:
* Providing rigorous oversight of utilities - with an emphasis on stable prices, high standards of service, and improved environmental performance.
* Preventing the utilities and phone company from overcharging you.
* Ensuring that new power plants and transmission lines minimize pollution and visual impact.
* Promoting clean, renewable energy resources and energy efficiency for residential and business consumers.
