I'm at work in Irvine and I swear the building just started to shake a little.

1. Yup.
I'm in San Diego and the building shook briefly while the cat spazzed out just a moment before.

First I've felt in a long time!

14. Our cat was freaking, too. Running all over the place.
Now we can't get him to stop. Even cuddling him, which usually calms him, isn't really working. He's meowing all over creation and running hot laps all around the place.

It's kinda sad because he's SO scared... but kinda funny at the same time!

15. He may be sensing the aftershocks.
Don't look for "normalcy" any time real soon. My cat seems okay now, but man was she freaked at the time!

12. I'm put in mind of the quake in '87 (?)
Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 11:01 AM by silverweb
It was a big one for San Diego... epicenter was later determined to be off the coast of Oceanside. My son was about 13 or so, delivering the Sunday paper while I sat in the turned-off car with another bunch of copies of the tome.

As he accidentally hit one front door, the ground started shaking, the car rocked back and forth, the kid's eyes turned to dinner plates, and things rocked and shook for at least a full minute or more. We just stood/sat there gaping at each other through the windshield, about 50 yards apart.

Later, when we learned about the quake, he confessed he thought he'd caused the effect when that heavy Sunday edition hit the door.

Poor guy. Neither of us ever forgot that morning!!

On edit: Downsize # of papers. No way could it have been 100 in our little car! It just seemed like it at the time.

:D

18. I can never tell if it's a quake or I'm just dizzy
Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 01:02 PM by yurbud
I had weird dreams for years after Northridge, and my building shook whenever buses went by, so it kind of surreally all blends together.

The way my building was slightly shaking I couldn't tell if I was having a dizzy spell. Was really weird.
