CONYERS IN SAN DIEGO!!!! 6/25 conf. & rally on Downing St

I'm delighted to announce that Congressman Conyers will be the keynote speaker on June 25th at "Defending Democracy: A Conference for Governmental Reform & Accountability" at the First Unitarian Universalist Church in San Diego.

In addition, we are hosting a major press conference and rally on the Downing Street Memo at noon in Balboa Park, 6th and Laurel Streets. This should draw national attention, so we want an enormous crowd.

Can we bring down carpools from other areas in California to show support for Conyers, our champion of electoral reform and holding the Bush administration accountable for its lies?

Conyers' flight details. Most likely it will be moved to mid-afternoon Saturday, still in Balboa Park.

4. I'm still in shock.

The great John Conyers is coming to San Diego! Oh Lord, I feel so unworthy! But I've volunteered to help with the conference and will do everything in my power to make this event the best ever.

We definitely want to give Conyers the warm reception that the White House refused him. He is LOVED!

5. Conyers cancelled out, unfortunately.

He won't be coming to San Diego--
because he's going to London to get evidence corroborating the British memos.

Our loss locally, but America's gain. This man is a national treasure.

7. Well those of us who can should still attend the

Defending Democracy conference. Since Conyers had agreed to keynote it before his plans changed and he needed to go to London instead, I assume he approves of it and would want us to attend. I know I'm going--Conyers may be a hero but he can't Defend Democracy all by himself. I'm sure the conference had an alternate keynote speaker in mind, just in case Conyers hadn't been able to attend, and we might even be lucky enough to get a message from him or his staff.

John Conyers is about defending Democracy, DU is about defending democracy, and I'm about defending democracy, so the Defending Democracy conference is where I'll be.

8. Bob Filner will be doing the keynote!

I just got the word.

Filner is the only white male who stood with the Congressional Black Caucus to protest the fraudulent Florida electoral vote back when we the people elected Al Gore. He is one of the bravest people in the country. He knows how to defend democracy.

He signed the Conyers petition.

He rocks!
