the Washington Post had an article today about the San Diego mayor(s) and their scandals. The article didn't mention which party they belong to. Are they republicans?

1. I do believe they are. |

Could be wrong, but don't think so.

Councilmen Michael Zucchet, Ralph Inzunza and Charles Lewis (charged with accepting cash bribes to relax no-touch regs at strip clubs) were all Dems.

4. The office is "non-partisan" but the last 2 elected mayors were Republican |

..Zucchet who was very briefly acting mayor was a Democrat though his terms lasted all of one day as he was convicted of some bribery charges and resigned.

5. Maureen O'Connor (Mayor Mo), was the last Dem mayor. |
|
And she actually did things to improve the city. The last two repugs, Susan Golding and Murphy were "do-nothing for the people but everything for developers and defense contractors", kind of Mayors.
Keep in mind Mayoral elections here are non-partisan.

7. Don't forget Roger Hedgecock, the Republican mayor |
|
caught in a scandal involving his house (shades of Duke Cunningham). He's now a talk radio host.

8. Oh yeah. I remember when that went down. |
|
Hedgecock lied about taking city money to fund his re-election campaign. And a couple of other little things too.
