What are Arnold's impeachable offenses?
What laws has he ignored or broken in office?

His magazine deal would be enough for the GOP to hound a Democrat out of office, but using the National Guard to spy on American citizens ought to count too.

I don't know if we could get the Assembly to bite on this, but if we put together a good list, we could send it to them and start some talk.

And we could send it to Arnold too.

CALIFORNIA CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE 4 LEGISLATIVE

SEC. 18. (a) The Assembly has the sole power of impeachment. Impeachments shall be tried by the Senate. A person may not be convicted unless, by rollcall vote entered in the journal, two thirds of the membership of the Senate concurs.

(b) State officers elected on a statewide basis, members of the State Board of Equalization, and judges of state courts are subject to impeachment for misconduct in office. Judgment may extend only to removal from office and disqualification to hold any office under the State, but the person convicted or acquitted remains subject to criminal punishment according to law.

8. I would start with conflict of interest
It isn't that he was taking money to endorse magazines. It is that he vetoed Speier's bill.
The other was calling a special election. That is called abuse of power.
I think those are a good place to start.

9. I'm pissed about the special election, but how is it an abuse of power?
Is there a way to connect the dots to some hidden agenda, like doing it before the paper trail vote requirement?

10. I would think prop 77 could be seen
as abuse of power. Not only rewording the amendment from the original petition, but it was clearly intended to get the state redrawn so R's would have the majority in the Legislature.

11. I read the reworded and original in LA Times but
I couldn't see the difference in substance although changing it that much was questionable at best.

12. I know. That's why I'm waiting until after it goes through
the appeal process to get really excited about it being removed. I hope the original ruling stands. It would be disastrous if it passed. I know the proponents will argue the differences as being stylistic but perhaps the appeals court won't find it amusing. Let's hope that will be the case.

13. The Assembly will never impeach him.
But I do seem to remember that there is an obscure law that allows the voters to recall a governor. With his approval ratings, it could work.
