Southern California Cindy Sheehan show of solidarity: Saturday, 3 pm
Edited on Sat Aug-13-05 01:38 AM by Hapameli
Our weekly Codepink Summer of Protest media actions will be focusing on Cindy Sheehan until she meets with Bush. We will be protesting outside of CNN every Saturdary this month at 3 pm (exception being next Saturday, we will be joining International Action's anti-Bush rally at 2 pm)

I will be sending out media alerts about this, so I hope we can get a decent showing.

CNN Tower
6430 Sunset Blvd.
(Sunset and Cahuenga), Hollywood.

This building also houses other newswires and radio stations.

3. I was there today. Had about 80 people at the peak,
LOTS OF GOOD ENERGY and tons of local support from drive-bys. The best was when a LAPD patrol car drove by early in the protest and honked their support and waved!!!

There was a creepy guy across the street that stood and watched us for nearly an hour. He told somebody when confronted that he was a VietNam vet, but I think he was more.........maybe FBI surveillance? And a SINGLE pro-Bush guy came in camouflage (pretending to be military) with TX plates on his gas-hog truck/penis extension and yelled for a few minutes, and then left. I think he didn't like us ignoring him.

Code Pink Orange County had a contingent, and there were many interested passers-by, so if we are there weekly I think turnout could be much more.

Come be part of the fun next Saturday at 2 PM, Sunset and Cahuenga, Hollywood.

4. It was a phenominal showing, lots of news crews, very tired...
Kestrel, are you talking about the middle-aged guy with a khaki bucket hat and sunglasses? He was looking at me very closely, like he recognized me or something.

5. No, there was a bald guy, 50ish, black t-shirt, white shorts,
leaning up against the light pole just watching us for about an hour. He was on the SE corner of the intersection. After quite a while a young guy who I had pointed him out to, went over and chatted with him. The guy said he was a Viet Nam vet, showed some ID corroborating such, and that was that. I told the young guy he probably WAS a vet, but was probably also FBI or some such. I later got a good side photo of him while pretending to photograph my friend. It was OBVIOUS surveillance of us, almost like he wanted to intimidate. After I got the photo of him (I think he knew what I was doing) he left.
