Didn't Gov Schwhatsever, at one time say he was a Democrat?
I could have swore that prior to getting in office, he was classified as a conservative Democrat. Since then, whenever he is shown there is the big R under him name and picture...

Did I imagine this? Was this yet another lie in his arsenal? Or was he always classified as Republican--just repub lite?

3. Ahnuld is an actor. "R" or "D" are secondary characteristics.
His job was to rescue the California Republican party, a
job he has failed miserably at despite the best efforts
of the Mighty Wurlitzer. California used to be solidly
Republican, and it mungs up national electoral politics
to have it solid Democratic now, it's got so many votes.
The dimwits moved a lot of the defense stuff back East to
shore things up there, and pursued the usual cheap labor
policies, and it bit them in the ass here.

4. Good point--on him being an actor, he just isn't a good one...
Quite a few of us saw through his hyperbole.

I didn't know California was once solidly Repub--that's interesting.

10. Are you thinking of Reagan?
Reagan was a Democrat until his movie career began to fail and he became a spokesperson for GE. I think that he started to believe all of the speeches he gave for GE. It was in his self interest to become a Republican, but it was not in the best interests of the country. Without Reagan, Bush would not be president today.
