You know you're from So-Cal if.......
1. Your monthly house payments exceed your annual income.

2. You drive next to a Rolls Royce and don't notice.

3. You don't know anyone's phone number unless you check your cell phone.

4. You speak Spanish, but you're not Mexican.

5. You begin to "lie" to your friends about how close you are when you
know damn well that it'll take you at least an hour to get there (see
below**).

5a. **Getting anywhere from point A to point B, no matter what the
distance, takes about "twenty minutes".

6. You drive to your neighborhood block party.

7. In the "winter", you can go to the beach and ski at Big Bear on the
same day.

8. You eat a different ethnic food for every meal.

9. If your destination is more than 5 minutes away on foot, you're
definitely driving.

10. Calling your neighbors requires knowing their area code.

11. You know what 'In N Out' is and feel bad for all the other states
because they don't have any.

12. You don't stop at a STOP sign, you do a " California Roll".

13. You really can never be too rich or too thin or too tan.

14. You've partied in Tijuana at least 3 times... You don't remember at
least 1 of them.

15. You go to a tanning salon before going to the beach.

16. You know what a Mexican Pizza is, and it's not the one at Taco Bell.

17. Your cell phone has left a permanent impression on the side of your
head.

18. You think that Venice is a beach.

19. The waitress asks if you'd like "carbs" in your meal.

20. You know who the tinsel underwear dude in Venice Beach is.

21. You classify new people you meet by their Area Code. An "818" would
never date a "562" and anyone from "323" or "213" is ghetto/second class.
Best area code: "714." Nobody likes anyone from the "909" because it
stinks there.

22. You call 911 and they put you on hold.

23. You have a gym membership because it's mandatory.

24. The gym is packed at 3pm....on a workday.

25. You think you are better than the people who live "Over the Hill". It
doesn't matter which side of the hill you are currently residing, you are
just better than them, for whatever reason.

26. You know that if you drive two miles in any direction you will find a
McDonald's or a Starbucks.

27. You know what "sigalert", "PCH", and "the five" mean.

28. You can't remember . . is pot illegal?

29. It's barely sprinkling rain and there's a report on every news
station: "STORM WATCH"

30. The Terminator is your governor.

31. You know that Taco Bell ISN'T Mexican Food.

32. You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from
California

1. So true, except 714s are mostly Republicans
wouldn't consider that the "best" area code

and I don't know what a "Mexican Pizza" is

Ten pre - staled tortillas . .

I miss LA, I really do. Only lived there a few years and the culture never felt homey. But I miss my neighbors, my butcher and the cat lady. :)

10. "310" is the best area code in L.A. "858" is the best in San Diego.

24. yes - but soon there will also be 424
The state of California has gone back and forth on the issue of overlays and splits. The 310 area code in the Los Angeles area has been congested for some time. A proposal was made to overlay, then the decision was made to split (but with very little notice from the "trigger date" until the split actually took effect), and now the decision has been made to overlay, although that decision is being reconsidered. The current plan is for the overlay to take effect on 2006-07-26.

You know you live in Colorado when you take your out of town guests to Casa Bonita even though you would never go there otherwise.

The bike on your car is worth more than you car.

You've urinated on the Continental Divide just so it could run into both oceans

You tell your husband to pick up granola on his way home from work and he stops at the day care.

Where we're going, we don't need roads!

SPF 90 is not out of the question.

Driving is better in winter cause the pot holes are filled with snow.

seems to imply that you're either a gringo who speaks Spanish or a Mexican -- there are also huge Peruvian, Bolivian, Colombian, Argentinian, and Chilean communities in SoCal

2 of them are in the same corner/supermarket complex, as they just put one inside the Vons when there is another one about 3 shops away!

22. I really don't like Starbucks
And I am happy there are many locally owned mom and pop places around here. Still I have two coffee shops less then a block from my house here in Scrippes Ranch (one of them is a Starbucks) and the market center two miles away has FIVE Starbucks at one intersection. That's right FIVE! WTF?!

25. Starbucks epidemic.....
I swear, there were times in San Diego that I thought there was a Starbucks every block or so.

The frighting thing is that here in Doha, Qatar, there's at least 2-4 Starbucks in each mall, and more on the way.

Bad coffee seems to be a universal constant.

23. Sac?!
You like SACRAMENTO?! I lived there for a year and couldn't wait to get back to San Diego. Terrible urban planning in Sacramento and I found it weird how so much of it was either ghettofied or rich suburbs.

The midtown area was kind of nice as was old town Sac but neither of those are very big areas. The biggest selling point for Sacramento seemed to be that you could buy a house for $200k-$250k.

I live up North now (don't bother moving up here, it's lousy really), and saying to someone how I was going to take the PCH to Gualala, and they had no idea what I meant and I said: Duh, you know, the Pacific coast highway.

26. I was born in the San Fernando Valley...
...but I don't live there no more.

From Ensenada to Santa Barbara, much of my youth was horrifically misspent.

Want some whiskey in your water?
Sugar in your tea?
What's all these crazy questions they're askin' me?
This is the craziest party that could ever be
Don't turn on the lights 'cause I don't wanna see

Mama told me not to come
Mama told me not to come
"That ain't the way to have fun, no"

Open up the window, let some air into this room
I think I'm almost chokin' from the smell of stale perfume
And that cigarette you're smokin' 'bout scare me half to death
Open up the window, sucker, let me catch my breath

Mama told me not to come
Mama told me not to come
"That ain't the way to have fun, son"
"That ain't the way to have fun, son"

The radio is blastin', someone's knockin' at the door
I'm lookin' at my girlfriend - she's passed out on the floor
I seen so many things I ain't never seen before
Don't know what it is - I don't wanna see no more

Mama told me not to come
Mama told me not to come
She said, "That ain't the way to have fun, son"
"That ain't the way to have fun, no"

"That ain't the way to have fun, no"
"That ain't the way to have fun, son"
"That ain't the way to have fun, no"
"That ain't the way to have fun, son"

"That ain't the way to have fun, no"
"That ain't the way to have fun, son"
"That ain't the way to have fun, no"
"That ain't the way to have fun, son"

27. Thanks for the laughs, Bleachers7!!!!!
You made my day!

It's all true, too, of course.

Friday and Saturday afternoon we were in Palm Springs in the pool.

Saturday night at the Staples Center to see the Eagles at their "hometown concert".

Sunday at the New Otani in Little Tokyo for Japanese Brunch with friends.

Sunday afternoon in Pasadena to see "Capote" with other friends.

And Sunday evening, we stopped for Peruvian for dinner before returning home to Claremont.

I have become a cliche.

Your 32 points were hilarious! Thanks for sharing them.

Especially this one: #5. "You begin to 'lie' to your friends about how close you are when you know damn well that it'll take you at least an hour to get there."

30. Thanks...
though it's really limited to SoCal, I must say.

I live in 909 area code, yes it stinks... too many Republicans. I dare to say, the 909 area code is even more Republican than your average Texas city.

The best is a split between 310 and 323, I'd say. You got Santa Monica, Venice, and West Hollywood.

Agreed wholeheartedly on #2 (Rolls-Royce thing). Whenever I come back after a long trip elsewhere, all these luxury cars overwhelm me. Elsewhere in the country, the most expensive car a progressive will ever drive is a Toyota Prius or a Honda Civic Hybrid. In SoCal, you'll see plenty of progressives in BMWs. I'm leasing a 3-series myself just to keep up.
