The Fantasic Meal
Yesterday, Arnold honored McDonald's for its role in fighting Childhood obesity. The beefy guru of physical fitness made the guru of special sauce a "member of the Summit on Health, Nutrition and Obesity Honor Roll," according to the company. If Arnold thinks Big Macs are the way to fight obesity, then voters are certainly right to second guess his judgment. It's very likely our McGovernor was moved by other motives. Say, for example, the Restaurant Association fundraiser recently held for him in LA. We will be on the watch for more Super-Sized contributions in the weeks to come. But already this week, the fiscal fitness of Arnold's campaign chest has compromised his stand for physical fitness.
Consider Arnold's signature on SB 281 by Sen. Abel Maldonado, which seeks to put more fruit and vegetables into school food programs. ArnoldWatchers tell us that the bill had required "fresh food" in schools until the Gov forced a September 7th amendment to replace the word "fresh" with "nutritious." On that same day Arnold reported $150K from food processing giant San Tomo. Could it be that about a million bucks from food processors Dole, Nestle, San Tomo and their affiliates is Arnold's reason for serving canned peaches rather than California grown fresh fruit?
