Rep. Mary Bono, husband, make plans for divorce

Rep. Mary Bono and her husband, former Wyoming businessman Glenn Baxley, plan to file for divorce, Bono's press secretary said Wednesday.

The couple's decision to separate and divorce is mutual, Kimberly Pencille said in an e-mail. Pencille declined to provide additional details.

"As this is a time of great sadness for them both, Congresswoman Bono asks that the public and the media respect their privacy," Pencille wrote.

Bono, the widow of entertainer and politician Sonny Bono, married Baxley in 2001 about 18 months after the two met in Mexico. The Western-wear designer moved from Jackson Hole, Wyo., to Palm Springs, where Bono lives with her two children.
